Pitch your music
Review our deadlines and best practices before submitting a pitch to give it the best chance for consideration.
Deadlines
- New Release full coverage: Pitch at least 10 days in advance of release for full consideration.
-
New Release final deadline: Pitch at least seven days in advance of release for late adds.
-
Off-cycle releases: The deadlines above apply on a rolling basis to your content release date.
-
Pre-add/pre-order: The deadlines above apply on a rolling basis to your content release date.
-
Re-promotion: Provide as much notice as possible ahead of the desired re-promotion date.
Best practices
Get us the right details. Information such as campaign details or rollout plans are critical, but additional information such as an artist’s biography are not. If there is a focus or feeler track, be sure to let our team know.
Know our ecosystem. Understanding our platform makes for an informed pitch. A slow song doesn’t necessarily mean it fits in a chill space. Knowing the ins and outs of the editorial playlists and genre pages will allow you to make a better, more targeted pitch.
Less is more. Just because you can pitch for multiple genres, doesn’t mean you should. Focus on where you think your music fits best. Submitting too many genres can dilute your pitch.
Creating an individual pitch
- Click the plus sign (+) next to Pitches on your Marketing dashboard. You can also pitch directly from a content page.
- Select if you want to pitch a New Release, Pre-add/Pre-order, or Re-promotion from the drop-down menu. You can also choose the Bulk Upload option to add multiple pitches at once.
- Enter your release details.
- Pitch-only users: Click “create a manual entry” and enter the required details of your release.
- Marketing Managers or Admins: Can search for delivered content from your catalog by entering the Apple ID or UPC. This will automatically populate some details about your release that are required for your pitch. You can also choose to “create a manual entry” and enter the required details of your release.
- Complete your pitch by providing content details, such as the format, content name, and artist, as well as additional release details, including mood, genre, language, and release date.
- Provide your promotion start date. If you’re timing your release to go live across all available territories simultaneously, check the Timed Release box and specify the timing of your release.
- Select the territories you want to receive your pitch information. Content should not be pitched to the same territory twice. If you’d like to submit your pitch globally or to multiple regions, use the Select drop-down menu.
- Specify the geographical territory you are pitching from. This information is critical for our global teams to identify pitches from local partners.
- Provide promotion details. This should include key moments in the campaign, the upcoming song release schedule, focus tracks, dedicated Apple Music marketing plans, and key media moments.
- Click Submit to review a summary page of your pitch.
Submit multiple pitches with Bulk Upload
- Click the plus sign (+) next to Pitches on your Marketing dashboard to begin.
- Select Bulk Upload from the drop-down menu.
- Download our bulk pitch template and fill in all required and optional information.
- Note: Do not modify the template column headers or sizing, and use the provided drop-down selections. Modifications to the template may result in it failing to upload.
- Select Choose File to upload your completed spreadsheet and click Upload.
- The upload will automatically validate to find any errors. The template will only import if it is free of errors.
